Breast reconstruction is a personalized surgical procedure designed to restore the shape, size, and appearance of the breast following a mastectomy or traumatic injury. How Is Breast Reconstruction Performed?
Our plastic surgeons offer three trusted options for breast mound reconstruction: one using breast implants, and two using natural tissue from other areas of the body. These procedures may be performed immediately during the mastectomy or delayed until after recovery and other treatments are complete. Patients work closely with their Advanced Aesthetics surgeon and oncology care team to determine the best approach. Reconstruction options include:

Tissue Expander and Implant Reconstruction: This two-stage method begins with the placement of a tissue expander under the chest muscle. The expander is gradually filled over time to stretch the skin and create space for a breast implant, which is inserted in a second procedure. Patients can choose from silicone or saline implants based on their desired look and feel.

Latissimus Dorsi Flap Reconstruction: This technique involves transferring skin, fat, and muscle from the upper back (latissimus dorsi) to the chest. The tissue is tunneled beneath the skin and often paired with a breast implant to achieve the ideal shape. It’s a dependable option when abdominal tissue is limited or additional coverage is needed.
To complete the reconstruction process and enhance aesthetic results, nipple and areola reconstruction may also be performed in a final, optional stage. Additionally, to support a more comfortable recovery, we also offer post-op pain pumps, which deliver targeted, non-narcotic pain relief directly to the surgical area, reducing the need for oral medications.

I give Dr. Akinbiyi a 5 Stars 🌟. My procedure was a Mastopexy, removal of Implants, with Breast Capsulectomy. I was anxious at first. However, from my initial meeting with him, I felt, he listened, to my concerns, he was patient and answered all of my questions. On the day of surgery, he spoke with me again; making sure, I understood about the surgery and helped me order medication. Additionally, Dr Akinbiyi spoke with my spouse a few time and my husband is please with my surgery .After my surgery, I continued to get great follow-up care and my questions and concerns were answered.
